One of the brightest spots of the pre-season so far has been the stellar play of the Fins' secondary. The first-team corners and safeties have pretty much shut down opposing offenses, allowing the d-line to do what it do in the trenches. This has been a pleasant surprise to us all, seeing how last season, this team's DBs were constantly either spontaneously combusting or just having various limbs falling off different players' bodies, or just had the name Jason Allen or Cameron Worrell. Yet now, the unit is coming together nicely. And Tony Sparano concurs:
Before the new regime gets too much credit for some sense of
open-mindedness when it comes to the secondary, Sparano admits he was
somewhat surprised about the talent that existed within the group when
he arrived in Miami.
''When I came here, and we kind of bunkered
down there for the first couple weeks and started watching all of this
tape, one of the areas that I was the most surprised in was the
secondary, I really was,'' Sparano said.
I like the idea of Parcells, Sparano and their coaches having an underground bunker where they plan their worldwide takeover and watch game tape. And, being in a division with Tom Brady, Randy Moss, and Brett Favre, I like what I'm seeing out of this secondary so far. Know what else I like? That's right! I like unicorns and rainbows. No! Wait! Girls! I meant I like girls! Uh...um...uh... look over there! Is that Tony Danza?
