Don't order that Jake Long jersey from the Dolphins pro shop just yet. The Sun-Sentinel's Omar Kelly is reporting that, according to a source, the Fins are also in contract negotiations with Ohio State DE/LB Vernon Gholston (yippee!). J-Long and Gholston are represented by the same firm, CAA, but have different agents. Also, J-Long and Gholston both benched 225 pounds 37 times at the NFL combine.
So it looks like it'll be J-Long or Gholston. Or not. Whatever. Jesus, we can't even enjoy news that the Fins are in negotiations with a player what with Parcells going around offering contracts to every damn prospect out there every five damn minutes and all. What the crap, Parcells? Put down the Big Gulp and Arby's cheddar & roast beef and pick a guy already!
You may think that I'm being hard on Parcells. After all, this needs to be done in order to keep the potential first pick from holding out, as well as to use these negotiations against the players as leverage so that the Fins don't end up blowing up their wallet for the first overall pick. But keep in mind, Parcells once kissed Bill Belichick on the mouth. So fuck him.
