Holy sugartits it's been a fun week. I think all the unrepentant hostility we've seen here today is just the stuff DRK and I had built up prior to the Pats game, in preparation for another week of having to talk about the Dolphins shitting all over themselves, and having to endure two whole weeks of dread -- arguing if Chad Henne should start, or how one would go about shiving Joey Porter without getting caught.
But Ronnie Brown and his balls of steel would have none of it! And the Fins won. And suddenly, that anticipatory anger had nowhere to go. So we directed it towards poor ole Ernest Wilford and some TV network half of America doesn't even have anyway.
Our team won! Against the Patriots! Pulled off what will probably be the biggest upset of the season! Ronnie Brown scored, again, and again, and again. And then, just to be sure karma wouldn't bite us in the ass with an aren't-they-just-so-amazing- Patriots-impossible come-from-behind-win, he scored again. Like unloading an entire machine gun clip on a corpse. Very loud, and completely useless, but awesome nonetheless. God it's great to feel so alive!
So, now that the week has wound down, and we're all just coming out of our so-happy-I-could-shit-on-a-kitten, hangover induced malaise, and the hookers have all been paid and sent home... we need to ask, "what now?"
We still have a full slate of games left to play. What will we see from the Dolphins from here on out? The shitbags who got blown up by 138-year old glove-wearing Kurt Warner two weeks ago, or the Cockpunchers Brigade that dismantled the Pats last Sunday? My personal opinion is that we're probably going to see something in between those two. And that grabs me just fine.
The Fins proved that that are capable of winning handedly on any given Sunday. They ran down New England's throats, thanks to Ronnie and also thanks to a certain number one overall pick. And they won with shut down defense. The coaching staff schemed around Randy Moss and threw the proverbial sack of urine at Matt Cassel (I was never all that hot for throwing kitchen sinks at people, it just never made sense to me. Now a bag of piss? Who wants a bag of piss thrown at them? Nobody, that's who).
The important thing to remember is that, even though this team is still far from being a true playoff contender, it's getting better. Yes, Joey Porter could easily go back to his favorite pastime of sucking, Chad Pennington's arm isn't going to get any stronger and the best receiver on our squad is a Mexican. And yes, there will be some ugly losses we'll need to endure and boneheaded plays that cost us games. But that's to be expected.
The main thing is that we're getting better. The main thing is that we're no longer the laughing stock of the NFL. The main thing is we're still in re-building mode, as the Cockpuncher takes us from bottom dwellers to dominators. One thing is for sure. When this team finally "arrives," we'll all look back at last Sunday and point to that game as the one that started the spark.
We're getting there. It's going to be a bumpy ride sometimes. But we're getting there. So let's make the best of it. It'll be that much sweeter when we get there.
And thank God for girls with big boobies!
