DRK's BFF Armando Salguero is reporting that the Dolphins are about to give Vonnie Holliday the heave-ho. Omar predicted that this would likely happen earlier today on his blog. But I didn't want to believe it. Mainly because I'm a sentimental idiot. I'm still sore about losing Jason Taylor :( Also because Vonnie will likely end up with another 3-4 defense like the Patriots or Jets and I would frankly rather eat a cat shit salad than to see that happen.*
The Fins were willing to keep Holliday, but at a reduced rate. So he's moving on. It looks like the Fins are taking the training wheels off Philip Merling and Kendall Langford and Randy Starks. It also looks like they'll be saving themselves some cap space money that they have no intention of spending.
It sucks to see Vonnie go. He was a team captain and one of the guys that kept things together even during the worst of times (see: Cameron, Cam; Saban, Nick era, Crapocalypse ). Vonnie getting emotional after we clinched the AFC East championship was one of the more indelible images of this past season. Vonnie Holliday is a class act and will be sorely missed. I'm a bit of a class act myself. I'm just saying. I'm pretty great. Am I the greatest person in history? My Mom would say yes. So what more proof do you need?
