And here was Tony's response:
“I just think we need good players. When I say that, we have a lot of good players on our team right now. We want to take good players. At the end of the day we have to be concerned with all the other things that are out there. He has different issues, and we have to do our due diligence that way,” Sparano said. “But we have to take good players. Whether it’s a receiver, a defensive back, an offensive lineman. We have to make sure we continue to bring good football player onto this team. Between myself, Bill (Parcells), Jeff(Ireland). We’ve really preached this offseason, and have been on a mission since the middle of the season, the beginning of our season, with this next draft class preparing that way.
“The more good players we can bring on our team the more ways we can find ways, things for them to do.”
What in holy giraffe shit???
Omar must be some kind of code cracking genius because he somehow concludes from this rambling mess that the Dolphins think Bryant is worth taking, even with all his baggage. Which would be the tits because Bryant remains number one on my personal wish list. Also on my wish list: Jose Ole' taquitos. Those things are crazy delicious.
I understand this draft is fairly deep with receivers. I also understand we have a shitload of needs on defense, particularly in the secondary. But unless Eric Berry somehow falls to 12, I see no reason not to draft Bryant if he's there. A man can only take so many Patrick Turner projects. Besides, Chad Henne specifically asked for a Dez Bryant-type of receiver this offseason. 6-3, fast, mantastic! And who are we to deny The Robot his wishes? Drafting Dez Bryant is about more than just winning Super Bowls. It's about the survival of the human race!
