We're fully diving headlong into the Suck For Luck campaign round these parts. And we're fully aware not many agree with it.
One of those who don't is The Right Arm of God himself.
Dan Marino appeared on Joe Rose's morning show this morning and pretty much said that tanking games on purpose is for faggots. Haha just kidding he didn't say that. BUT IT'S TOTALLY WHAT HE MEANT:
"You got to win games," Marino replied. "That's what your job is -- that's the franchise. You don't go out there trying to lose games. That's just ridiculous. If that does happen, then you look at who's the best possible player. "Usually, if you can get a franchise-type quarterback that's going to be around for ten years, that's probably what direction you should go," he continued. "But you're not going to know that for quite awhile, and you might not even know Andrew Luck -- what's going to happen with him during the season.
Marino uses the tried and true "what if we lose all these games and Luck ends up sucking balls" argument that's been floating around. And it's all good. But losing just isn't in this man's DNA, so I can see why he's going that route. Marino would probably shove an elbow in his daughters teeth during family pick up basketball games in the drive way if it meant getting a rebound and getting his 21.
So I completely understand where he's coming from. But the fact is, Marino's first round Hall of Fame colleague, John Elway, who also happens to run shit in Denver, has been attending Stanford games since last season. This is because Horseface went to school there. But make no mistake. This fucker is scouting Luck, and the Broncos are curently 1-4 and their QB situation is almost as putrid as ours.
So yea, at the risk of having a thunder bolt suddenly strike me down from Mount Olympus, I'm gonna have to disagree with my childhood hero.
Sorry Dan. It's time to THINK DIFFERENT. I'd hate to see that dickhole Elway end up with Luck while your team remains shitty as ever. This is the only way! Please do not devour me with fire as you have all your enemies! I love you!
