Brandon Marshall was detained by Broward County cops earlier this week after he failed to pay a $142 cab fare to the airport, because apparently Brandon Marshall likes to have taxis circle the location he's headed to several times before he gets out. Anyway, Marshall was handcuffed and held when two different cabbies claimed he tried to ride-n-dash:
The driver said he picked up Marshall at the Fontainebleau Hotel on Miami Beach and drove him to the airport, where Marshall said he needed to use the restroom. The driver said Marshall went into the terminal then exited another door and got into the other cab.
A dispatcher alerted the second driver what had happen and that driver took Marshall to the port, where he flagged down deputies.
Did Marshall decide he wanted to take a trip somewhere and then change his mind at the last minute? Because that's the only way any of this can make any sense.
Either way, you have to admire Marshall's innovative thinking in a tight spot. Telling the cabbie you have to take a piss and then walking out of a different exit to get into another cab mere seconds later sounds like a fantastic getaway plan. If only that damn cabbie didn't go and notice the same guy in the same clothes that was just in his cab a minute ago getting into another cab a few feet away and driving off. That cabbie must have Cherokee blood in him to be able to solve a mystery like this so quickly.
We can only hope Brandon Marshall learns from this experience and starts carrying a fake mustache with him at all times from now on. Otherwise, it was the perfect crime!
