A few links here culled together to pique your interest as camp continues to heat up:
- There's been quite a bit of talk about the Dolphins new 'up-tempo' style of practices where several units are going at each other at the same time in an effort to get more reps in and speed up the tempo for games. However, Arrrrmando is boo-hooing that smile on your face because maybe that shit might not work with our possibly crappy QBs. ULTIMATE NYAAAA! My concern is how is this rookie HC supposed to properly evaluate everyone for himself with intense scrutiny if the guy is dancing about the practice field like a jovial satyr checking on every unit from time to time? Might not it be better to just focus on one part of the field, one scrimmage, one 7-on-7 like they've done for, oh you know, a million years now?? But, hey, what do I know....
- Elsewhere, ole' Farmer Steve Ross perched himself on his ole' porch, stuck a corncob pipe in his mouth as the sun went down and counted 587 chickens from the eggs currently occupying the various nests within the henhouse:
"[Changes] are pretty evident and you can feel it," Ross said. "People can talk the talk, but you can see that we’re walking the walk and I think that’s what’s important. If fans feel that and see that, I think they’re going to be very excited about that."
- Also in that ESPN 'Camp Confidential', there's a tidbit about Brian Hartline falling down the depth chart some at the PAINFULLY thin WR position and this should surprise exactly NO ONE except Omar Kelly. Hartline is a chipmunk; they do not make great wide receivers last I remember (with the possible exception of catching acorns for winter storage). Granted, injuries aren't helping him but fucking Jordy Nelson he is not. Sorry.
- I still worry about two things: Jonathan Martin starting right out the gate (was never impressed with him and I fear he is going to be absolutely mauled until he gets bigger) and the Safety position (which is exacerbated by the Clemons injury). It's bad enough we still don't have anyone that can cover TEs but the fact that the two guys guarding the backside of our defense have the collective IQs of a Swiffer mop does not bode well, friends. Still, there's been some positive news about Tannehill looking sharp out the gate so that's nice.
It's training camp, so you know, whatever the fuck but I wonder how things look out there to any of the FinsNation that have attended? Home: what does Home say? LoRyder??
More stuff here on this camp off-day.
